Purpose Attracts Opposition.
INTRODUCTION
There are moments in Scripture that reveal deep spiritual patterns, that still apply today.
Before Moses was even born, there was already a death sentence against him.
“Pharaoh ordered that every Hebrew male child be killed" (Exodus 1:22)
Before he took a step…
before he spoke a word…
before he understood his identity…
The enemy had already targeted him.
Why?
Because Moses was born with purpose.
And anything born with purpose often attracts opposition.
PURPOSE ATTRACTS OPPOSITION
The enemy tried to destroy him before he even stepped into destiny.
“Every son who is born you shall cast into the river.” — Exodus 1:22
The attack came before Moses could act.
Yet in a divine reversal, God used the very system meant to kill him to raise him.
Pharaoh’s house, the place of danger became the place of preparation.
👉 The level of attack can be connected to the level of purpose.
Some battles don’t start when you act, they start because of who you are destined to become.
BIBLICAL PATTERN
When something significant is about to enter the earth, opposition often rises early.
This did not pertain to Moses alone; Jesus is also a good example.
- Pharaoh tried to kill Hebrew babies → Moses
- Herod tried to kill children → Jesus (Matthew 2:16)
GOD PRESERVES WHAT IS PURPOSED
Moses’ mother hid him.
When she could no longer hide him, she placed him in the river, the very place of danger. (Exodus 2:3)
The river meant for death became the place of deliverance.
👉 What was meant to destroy him became the path that delivered him.
DIVINE REVERSAL: THE ENEMY BECOMES THE INSTRUMENT
Moses was hidden, then placed in the river.
“The daughter of Pharaoh came down to bathe… and she saw the ark.” — Exodus 2:5
Pharaoh’s daughter found Moses.
She didn’t kill him, she raised him.
The same river meant for death became a pathway to life.
The system that was designed to destroy him:
- fed him
- educated him
- prepared him
👉 This is divine reversal.
God can use what was meant against you to build you. What is meant to destroy you can become what develops you when God is involved.
PREPARATION
God can take what was meant to stop you and use it to prepare you. Not everything you go through is accidental.
Moses grew up in Pharaoh’s palace.
There he gained:
- leadership exposure
- cultural understanding
- influence
Everything he learned in that environment became necessary for his future assignment.
👉 Sometimes your current environment is not your destination, it is your preparation.
YOUR EARLY STRUGGLES ARE NOT RANDOM
Many people today experience:
- rejection early in life
- confusion about identity
- unusual struggles
And they ask:
“Why is this happening to me?”
Moses’ life answers that question.
👉 Some struggles are not random; they are connected to purpose.
👉 The process comes before the platform.
GOD USES EVERYTHING
Romans 8:28 says:
“All things work together for good to those who love God.”
Not some things all things.
- the pain
- the delay
- the confusion
- the setbacks
👉 God wastes nothing.
YOUR PAST DOES NOT DISQUALIFY YOU
Your beginning does not determine your ending.
Moses made mistakes later in life.
Yet God still used him.
Moses did not step into purpose in Egypt.
He stepped into it when he encountered God at the burning bush (Exodus 3).
Purpose is not just about preparation; it is about encounter.
APPLICATION TO DAILY LIFE AND AMBITION
- Don’t Misinterpret Early Battles: What tried to stop you early does not define you.
- See Preparation in Your Current Season: What is God teaching me right now
- Don’t Quit in the Process: The process may feel slow—but it is necessary.
- Align Your Goals with God’s Purpose: Ambition without purpose leads to frustration. Purpose with God leads to fulfillment.
- Trust Divine Timing: Moses spent decades in preparation before stepping into destiny.
