The Second Coming of Jesus

The Rapture

The Bible teaches that Jesus Christ is coming again.

This is not a metaphor.
It is not symbolism.
It is a real, future event promised by God.

“This same Jesus… will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.” — Acts 1:11

What Is the Second Coming?

The Second Coming refers to the return of Jesus Christ to earth in glory, power, and authority.

His first coming was in humility — as a suffering servant.
His second coming will be in glory — as King and Judge.

“For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels.”Matthew 16:27

What Is the Rapture?

The rapture is the event when Jesus comes for His believers, removing them from the earth to be with Him.

The word “rapture” comes from the Latin rapturo, meaning to be caught up.

The Bible describes it clearly:

“The Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout… and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive… shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.”1 Thessalonians 4:16–17

This is a moment of rescue, not judgment, for those who belong to Christ.

Who Will Be Taken?

The rapture is for those who have trusted in Jesus Christ for salvation.

Not the religious.
Not the moral.
Not the church-attender.

But those who are born again.

“If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.” — Romans 8:9
“Christ… will appear a second time… to save those who are eagerly waiting for Him.” — Hebrews 9:28

When Will the Rapture Happen?

The Bible is clear: no one knows the exact day or hour.

“Of that day and hour no one knows… but the Father only.”Matthew 24:36

But the Bible also teaches it will come suddenly and unexpectedly.

“The day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.”1 Thessalonians 5:2

That is why Scripture repeatedly calls people to be ready.

What Happens After the Rapture?

After the rapture, the Bible describes a time of great tribulation on earth — a period of judgment, deception, and suffering.

“For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world.”Matthew 24:21

During this time:

God’s judgment is poured out

Many will turn to Christ

Evil will increase

Jesus will ultimately return visibly to reign

Jesus Will Return in Glory

At the end of the tribulation, Jesus will return to the earth, not just in the air.

“Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him.”Revelation 1:7

This return is known as the Second Coming, where Christ defeats evil and establishes His righteous rule.

“The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ.”Revelation 11:15

What Does This Mean for Believers?

For those who belong to Jesus, His return is hope, not fear.

“Therefore comfort one another with these words.”1 Thessalonians 4:18

Believers are promised:

Rescue from wrath

Eternal life with Christ

A glorified body

Everlasting peace

“So we shall always be with the Lord.”1 Thessalonians 4:17

What Does This Mean for You?

Jesus is coming again. And the question is not if — but are you ready?

“Be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”Matthew 24:44

Readiness does not come from fear.
It comes from faith in Jesus Christ.

How to Be Ready

You are ready when:

You have repented of sin

You have trusted Jesus Christ as Savior

You are walking in faith, not perfection

“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” — Romans 8:1

A Final Promise

Jesus Himself said:

“I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.”John 14:3

This is not meant to frighten the world, It is meant to save it.

One Final Truth

The same Jesus who died for sinners
The same Jesus who rose from the dead
Is the same Jesus who is coming again.

Are you ready to meet Him?
