The Holy Spirit

INTRODUCTION

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, His presence living with and within believers.
When someone believes in Jesus, the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in them, making their heart His dwelling place (1 Corinthians 6:19). This means God is no longer distant, He is actively involved in your daily life.

He is not just a force or feeling, but a divine person sent by God to guide, help, and transform our lives. One of the greatest gifts God has given to believers is not just forgiveness…it is His presence living within us.

Many people try to live the Christian life in their own strength:

  • trying harder
  • doing better
  • struggling alone

But the Christian life was never meant to be lived by human effort.

It was designed to be lived by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus said:

“I will not leave you as orphans… I will come to you.” — John 14:18

His main duties:

  • He guides into truth (John 16:13)
  • He teaches and reminds us of God’s Word (John 14:26)
  • He convicts us of sin and leads us to righteousness (John 16:8)
  • He lives in believers and gives spiritual life (1 Corinthians 6:19)
  • He empowers us to live for God (Acts 1:8)
  • He produces godly character in us (Galatians 5:22–23)

The Holy Spirit is God living in you, guiding you, strengthening you, and helping you live the life you cannot live on your own.

Jesus said:

“I will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever.” - John 14:16

He Convicts of Sin

He shows us:

  • what is wrong
  • what needs to change

This is not condemnation; it is correction that leads to life.

He Gives New Birth

“Born of the Spirit…” — John 3:5

Salvation is not just external; it is internal transformation.
